Hobbies come in all shapes and sizes. Everything from stamp collecting, to raising ant farms, to monster truck racing constitutes a hobby. A RC truck (remote control or radio control truck) is the basis for an increasingly popular pastime. In the past, a RC truck could not perform nearly as well as more modern nitro RC trucks and electric RC trucks. Higher-powered RC trucks are becoming the hobby of choice for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Owning a RC truck is perfect for any one who enjoys a combination of engineering, mechanics, tricks and racing. Like any hobby, owning a RC truck requires a certain amount of maintenance. Maintenance of a RC truck is a large part of the hobby and can be nearly as much fun as performing tricks with the RC truck.  Assembling and maintaining the RC truck are key components that contribute to the ultimate performance aspect of the hobby.

Performance and maintenance require a great deal of replacement parts. Unlike the toys they are often mistaken for, replacement parts for a RC truck are very specific to the type of truck owned. Proper functioning and jaw-dropping performance are only guaranteed if the proper replacement parts for a RC truck are used.

The modern RC truck is much more technologically advanced and much larger than older models. Nitro RC trucks are made with car bodies and large wheels conducive to off-road and dirt tracks. Modern nitro RC trucks run on nitro engines allowing them to outperform older, battery operated versions of the RC truck. Consequentially, the need for more high-tech replacement parts has become an increasing demand of RC truck fanatics.

The T-Maxx is a RC truck that runs on a nitro engine. It is a monster truck that, by remote control, can reach up to 55 miles per hour. RC trucks such as the T-Maxx are relatively expensive in comparison to electric RC trucks. This is because they run on gas, are larger, and can withstand a higher level of performance on rougher terrains. However, they also require more specific replacement parts in order to ensure that they consistently awe people with their ability to gain as much speed as a regular automobile. Considering they can reach these high speeds, Nitro RC trucks thus require similar maintenance as regular cars.

Even electric RC trucks require a great deal of maintenance regardless of their lower cost level. Electric RC trucks are battery operated and available at most major stores and toy-stores. For someone less familiar with the RC truck hobby, electric RC trucks are a great place to start. Electric versions are much cheaper than nitro RC trucks and are slightly smaller. The replacement parts for electric RC trucks are also less expensive than those of nitro RC trucks, leaving more time to get acquainted with the truck and its performance abilities.

Performance is the primary reason people invest time into the RC truck hobby. So many people live for the flips, spins and speed that only they can manipulate with their RC truck. The level of performance of nitro RC trucks so great they often are faced with the need for replacement parts. Replacement parts are very specific to the brand of RC truck someone is looking to repair. Tower Hobbies has a superstore of RC truck replacement parts for nearly every brand of RC trucks, cars and boats. They offer everything from replacement engines and motors, to replacement truck bodies, clutch springs and gear sets.

Engines are one of the most frequently replaced parts on a RC truck is the engine itself. Constant play and performance wears out the engine requiring frequent replacement. Engine replacement is a bit more costly, however, engines are a large determining factor in performance. Most RC truck engines are purchased prior to being assembled. Assembling the engine is one of the appeals of the RC truck hobby. Retailers of RC truck engines offer replacement parts lists for each type of engine they offer. Parts typically include things such as gaskets, carburetors, cylinders, pistons among others.

The very act of engineering a RC truck engine from scratch brings great joy to many people. Others prefer much simpler electric RC trucks. Whatever the case may be, a RC truck has the potential to occupy the restless hands of just about anyone with an interest in remote control racing and engineering.
